Publicis Groupe’s Égalité Raises Nearly $40K for 2014 AIDS Walk NY

AIDS Walk NYCNEW YORK, NY (May 18, 2014) – For a third consecutive year, Publicis Groupe’s Égalité participated in AIDS Walk NY, which took place this year on Sunday, May 18 in Central Park. To date, Égalité, the Publicis Groupe employee resource network for LGBT employees and their allies raised over $39,000, surpassing the original goal of $15,000! All walkers must raise a minimum of $25 to participate, and many Publicis Groupe agencies pitched in large sums to support this cause.

Robert Camilleri, VP, Global Operations Dir. at Publicis Kaplan Thaler and Re-Founder/Co-Chair of Publicis Groupe Égalité discussed the charity, sharing, “In the shadow cast by HIV/AIDS it’s incredibly uplifting to see the passion and commitment of our team members coming together in such vast numbers to generate awareness to raise the vital funds needed to keep up the fight against HIV/AIDS. Setting new records for both participation and fundraising, Égalité continues to be a force for good not just within Publicis Groupe but in the external community too.”

EgaliteIn 1986 the GMHC, a charity devoted to AIDS research and prevention, launched their first annual fundraising event: A 10K walk through New York City. Today, the event attracts thousands of patrons who walk through much of Central Park. What was once a small event to generate awareness of the AIDS epidemic has evolved into a massive culmination of survivors, supporters and medical professionals.

SEgaliteLionLogoiretta Pearson, controller at Publicis Kaplan Thaler, who also participated in the walk, commented, “Joining Team Égalité to participate in AIDS Walk NY was incredibly important to me as a way to honor the memory of a dear friend who I lost to the disease several years ago. Walking and raising funds are just two ways to fight back and make a difference in this world and it was great to do so in the company of friends, family and coworkers.”

“AIDS Walk is a great way for us to come together, not only as a company, but as a community to show support for those suffering from this horrible disease. Nobody should have to fight this alone,” added Bridget Kelly, copywriter at Publicis Kaplan Thaler.

AIDS Walk New York is currently the largest AIDS fundraising event in the world.
