Publicis Kaplan Thaler & Citi Win Big at FCS Awards

The FCS Portfolio Awards honor excellence in financial services advertising, collateral, digital media, return on investment, and public relations. Publicis and Citi had a great showing, winning 1 Best In Show, 5 Gold, 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze.

This year’s legendary black-tie gala at the famed Hammerstein Ballroom gathered more than 550 of the leading thinkers and practitioners in the communications industry, including the 48 brands that won Portfolio trophies.

“If there was a theme that tied together this year’s Best in Show award winners, it was connectivity,” said Kevin Windorf, FCS president. “Whether it was connecting directly with clients, future investors, prospective employees, or, in one case, with an entire city’s worth of biking enthusiasts, this year’s Portfolio Awards highlighted the creativity that our industry has been using to connect with key communities.”

Publicis Kaplan Thaler’s work on Citi Bike was recognized as on of the Best in Show recipients in the Corporate Image category and went on to receive many more awards throughout the night.

The awards were presented in three groups: Corporate Image, Business to Business, and Consumer Retail.

· SILVER — Consumer Retail/Outdoor Campaign — Citi Bikes (Headlines)


· BRONZE — Corporate Image/Print Single — Citi “Jonathan Rose”

This year’s Portfolio Awards competition included 475 entries, the most in the 20 year history of the Awards, with Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies awarded to ROI, Public Relations, Collateral, Web Sites, and Advertising in print, television, out-of-home, direct mail, interactive and multimedia categories. Winning entries were received from financial services providers, including investment firms, FCS Portfolio Awardcredit card companies, investment banks, brokerages and exchanges, insurance companies, mutual funds, ETFs, hedge funds, accounting firms, clearing corporations and commercial banks.

Rob Feakins, Chief Creative Officer at Publicis Kaplan Thaler summarized the awards, saying, “It’s most important that we first dominate our category awards for our clients. For if we do, it shows we are distinguishing our clients and raising them above the noise of the category. Winning Best of Show for Citi was an example of this and especially rewarding.”

Best in Show trophies are awarded based on the highest average scores of the FCS Portfolio Awards judging panel, which also awards the gold, silver and bronze awards in each category. This year’s panel consisted of 29 senior executives from financial firms and communications agencies.
