NEW YORK CITY, NY (April 15, 2014) – Publicis Kaplan Thaler and Your Majesty’s website created for Citi’s Olympic sponsorship, “Every Step of the Way,” has officially been awarded the Favourite Website Awards (FWA) Site of the Day for April 15, 2014. The site previously made the FWA shortlist back in February.
Chris Smith, creative director on the Citi account shared, “While the FWA shortlist put our work among of tens of thousands of sites worldwide, the Site of the Day honor lifts us into a much more exclusive club. We could not be more excited.”

NEW YORK CITY, NY (February 19, 2014) – The “Every Step of the Way” website created for Citi by Publicis Kaplan Thaler and Your Majesty has officially made the Favourite Website Awards (FWA) shortlist.
FWA is an industry recognized award program and inspirational portal, based in England and is one of the World’s leading website recognitions. FWA is widely recognized as the number 1 achievement for innovative web design through the Site Of The Year award.
In addition to being a Team USA Sponsor, Citi has committed $500,000 to the U.S. Olympic Committee through our Every Step of the Way® program. Each Team Citi athlete has teamed up with a U.S. Olympic, Paralympic or Community program in need. The Citi Olympics Every Step of the Way website is a never-before-seen look inside the stories of Team USA athletes and the causes that have inspired them along the way. Our digital experience helps fans understand why Team Citi is supporting their chosen programs by focusing on pivotal moments in each athlete’s life. Users can navigate through the athletes’ stories and then decide which program they’d like to award some of Citi’s donation to with just a click.

We knew we needed to let them and their words shine. Christopher Smith and the team distilled each athlete’s pivotal moments and milestones and framed them with a beautiful and intimate environment. You couldn’t help being a fan of these Olympians and Paralympians after scrolling through the site.”
The athletes’ stories come to life through a cinematic storyline designed to fully immerse fans in the experience. By using a combination of cutting-edge browser technologies, we were able to layer complex multimedia elements such as video interviews and archival photos while still giving the user complete control over how they explore the content. This is something we believe pushes the envelope not only for Citi, but for digital storytelling as a whole.
Executive Creative Director, Tom Drymalski, was elated by the site’s recognition. “We’re thrilled to see this work recognized by FWA. Our team put a ton of effort to rethinking and rebuilding the experience from what had been done for the London Games site back in 2012. We pushed a lot of comfort zones, and a lot of credit goes to our client at Citi. They put a lot of faith in our team and it’s really nice to see that pay off.”
Dermot Boden, chief brand officer for Citi, said that the bank’s support for the various causes was a reflection of its overall approach. “Our brand-positioning is about progress, and for 200 years we’ve been working with our clients to enable their progress,” Mr. Boden said.
FWA showcases one site every day, a Site Of The Day (SOTD), with a Site Of The Month (SOTM) being selected at the end of each calendar month from that month’s SOTDs. At the end of each year the twelve SOTM winners enter the contest for the People’s Choice Award (PCA), first introduced in 2002, and for the overall Site Of The Year (SOTY), first established in 2000.
